With a Design Development presentation tomorrow, I thought I would give another update on how my project is progressing!

Since my last update, the main blocked plan has remained mostly the same with a few small changes in the scene shop areas.

The facade studies above illustrate the new east entrance available for student and faculty use. This new entrance feeds directly into the collaborative, circular atrium space.

The updated section cuts help to illustrate the stacking of spaces, the vertical shapes of the two atrium spaces, and the juxtaposition of the square and circular geometries illustrated in the concept.

The entrance lounge offers lots of seating with views into the scene shop, lecture hall, and reception area. Students can also choose to sit on the built in lounge steps for meetings or working individually. The grid system of the stairs functions as a display space where students can hang posters or other information they want to display. Below the stairs is a vending area, additional seating cove, and entry to a glass windowed elevator.

Continuing up the stairs, a view from the hallway provides sight lines into many of the classrooms, contributing to a more collaborative environment. Casework is designed with seating alcoves and additional display areas. The floor pattern is designed in the shape of a grid, but tilted 45 degrees following the profile of each signage wall. This pattern continues into each of the classrooms and adjacent spaces, guiding students into the learning environments.

The classroom space is colorful and inspiring, with a grid ceiling that lines up with each of the windows. The individual light fixtures within the ceiling are tilted on the same 45 degree axis as the floor pattern. All furniture chosen for the classrooms have casters and flip top table surfaces so they can be pushed aside for acting or performing exercises.

The ellipsis atrium is a collaborative circulation and event space. This area is very open with sight lines into a variety of studios and creative spaces. A central skylight, hanging art/lighting piece, and piano are focal points of the space. This area needs some further development with additional color and design details, but the overall layout and sight lines can be seen in the perspective.

The dance studio ceiling consists of large, organic acoustic blades with pendants hanging between. The walls without windows are each covered with a large mirror that fades to white at the top then transitions to a wall covering.

The musical theatre lab is a space where students learn to play piano. Acoustic waffle clouds hang from the ceiling with pendants scattered between. The whiteboard's shape is based from piano keys, but running longways so professors can write out sheet music or scales for students to play. The wall covering is perfect for the space because there is actual sheet music printed under the colorful splotching pattern. (Check out Maharam's Digital Wallcovering, A Midsummer Night's Dream)
